Young Adults Counselling Service

The Young Adults Counselling Service is a free service for 18 to 25 year-olds, living in North Yorkshire, who are experiencing a range of issues, such as:

  • Anger

  • Mild to moderate anxiety / stress

  • Bereavement and other types of loss such as redundancy

  • Low self-esteem / negative self-image / feelings of being different

  • Personal development

  • Mild to moderate depression

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Sexuality

  • Significant life changes

  • Work-related issues

We offer an initial assessment and up to ten counselling sessions. Counselling is offered on a 1-2-1 basis for individuals, aged 18-25. We do not make a charge, but as a charity, we welcome donations.

All of our trainees are undertaking approved training courses, and have been assessed as fit to practice. They have undergone a rigorous recruitment process before being offered a place on their training course and a placement with us. Trainees are fully supported during their time with us.

The initial assessment is conducted by a qualified and experienced counsellor to ensure that we are the appropriate service for you. As well as face-to-face sessions at Stanley Harrison House, we can offer clients remote counselling (online or over the telephone).

Please let us know if you have any access issues as our client rooms are on the first floor.  There is a lift but there are some steps to negotiate, so we may need to make alternative arrangements.

Clients can either self-refer - or be referred – using the referral form on this website.
